News / Cooperation4 October, 2005 Exchange of experience on maritime security activities between United States Coast Guard and the Russian Maritime Security Service.
In the framework of joint program of port security experience sharing, we conducted a series of visits to ports of our countries.
In the summer 2005 the Russian delegation had visited US East coast ports (Washington, Baltimore and New-York), in the autumn - port of the Pacific (Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland, Seattle). In their part the US Coast Guard officers in September 2005 went to see Russian ports (Novorossiysk, St.-Petersburg, Vladivostok, Nakhodka, Vostochny).
The main positive outcome of such cooperation, in our view, was the opportunity to gain clear understanding of how the US port security system works. Seeing the whole picture we of course can take some interesting ideas on board, and probably can enter them into our system. |
